"Coruja guinchante oriental" (Megascops asio), espécie encontrada na América do Norte, com a condição genética conhecida como leucismo, onde o indivíduo tem a produção de melanina (responsável pela coloração do corpo), mas o pigmento está todo concentrado em uma região, como por exemplo os olhos. Diferente do albinismo, em que não há produção de melanina e os animais geralmente têm os olhos vermelhos.

Leucistic Eastern Screech Owl (Megascops asio) species found in North America, with the genetic condition known as leucism where the individual has the production of melanin (responsible for body coloration), but the pigment is all concentrated in one region, on the eyes for example. Different from albinism, where there is no melanin production and animals usually have red eyes.
