Estrela-do-mar-real
(Astropecten articulatus) é um animal que faz valer seu nome, tendo cores vivas roxo e laranja embelezand a areia em que seja encontrada.
Vive normalmente ao longo da costa
sudeste dos Estados Unidos, é um animal carnívoro se alimentando de
pequenos moluscos que são capturados pelos braços da estrela e levados à
boca, onde são engolidos inteiros; após engolir a presa inteira, a Estrela-do-Mar-Real regurgita partes duras não digeríveis como conchas pela própria boca, já que não possui ânus, ou seja, o animal se alimenta e excreta tudo pela mesma abertura, ECA!
Os braços medem de 2 a 9 centímetros, e seus pés ambulacrais são diferentes da maioria das estrelas, uma vez que não possuem a ponta modificada em ventosas e são arredondadas ou pontudas.

Royal starfish (Astropecten
articulatus) is an animal that is makes uo to it's name, with beautiful vivid purple and orange colors and embellishing the sand where it is found.
It is usually found along the southeast coast of the United
States, is a carnivore animal, feeding on small molluscs, which are
captured by the arms of the star and into the mouth, where they are
swallowed whole. After swallowing the prey whole, the Royal starfish regurgitate indigestible hard parts like shells by his own mouth, as it has no anus, which means the animal feeds and excretes everything from the same opening, YUCK!
The arms span from 2 to 9 centimeters, and their ambulacrais foot are different from most of the stars, since the tip does not possess modified cuckers and are rounded or pointed.
